Respawn 110 Review: Quality, Comfort and Durability

If the Respawn 110 is about trying to prove anything, it’s that not all gaming chairs are made equal.

Indeed, while it can sometimes be difficult to tell one black and red gaming chair apart from the next or to determine the differences between top-brand chairs, the makers of the Respawn 110 gaming chair seem to have set themselves the challenge of creating one of the most distinctive chairs on the market, ensuring there’s no mistaking a Respawn when you see one.

To that end, they’ve largely been successful.

Undoubtedly, this is a striking piece of furniture that’s practically guaranteed to be a talking point the next time you have friends over to try out that new PS5 game.

Still, as we all know, looks aren’t everything.

As unabashedly cool and unique as it may be, how does the Respawn 110 hold up in terms of all the things that really matter, like quality, comfort, and lasting durability?

That’s exactly what we set out when we put this one-of-a-kind chair through its paces here at Office Chair Picks HQ.

Here’s what we found out:

First Impressions

Look, we hate to go on about it, but there really is no getting away from the fact that the Respawn 110 gaming chair looks like nothing else on the market.

It’s the first thing you notice about this chair and the first thing that people are likely to talk about when you bring one home.

It’s thick, chunky design suggests an exceptional level of comfort and combines with both a bold, racing car design to make this a solid option for anyone who really wants to create a strong, powerful presence with their gaming setup.

That’s before we even mention the color choices.

If you’re an X-Box fan, you’ll probably love the black and green version which made our list of the best X-Box One gaming chairs of the year. Alternatively, the red, white, gold, and silver trims, as well as the classic all-black look impressive.

Before we move on and look at what this chair is actually like to use, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that some users complain that the Respawn 110 has a particularly strong odor about it when you first take it out of the box

In general, this is nothing more than the kind of “new car smell” you get with any new product, but if it is bothering you, simply see our guide on how to clean a gaming chair and give it a good wipe down before use.

Assembly

One of the many things we like about the Respawn 110 is that despite there being a lot to it, it isn’t all that difficult to put together.

The chair comes out of the box in six pre-assembled pieces along with the tools you need to put the whole thing together.

Give yourself 10 – 20 minutes to simply lock everything securely into place and you’re good to go.

If you’d rather spend more time gaming than setting up your furniture (and let’s face it, who wouldn’t?), then that’s another tick in the win column for this one.

Size and Specifications

If you’re looking for a gaming chair to support big and tall users, you may not find what you’re looking for with this one. While the 275 lbs weight limit certainly isn’t insignificant.

Chairs like the Autofull Gaming Chair can support 330 lbs while the Killabee Big and Tall 825 comes with a solid 400 lbs weight limit, making them much better options for those who need the extra support.

Still, the Respawn 110 isn’t exactly tiny, either.

Dimensions

Overall Chair Width 28.5”
Overall Chair Depth 26”
Overall Chair Height 51.5”
Seat Depth 21.25”
Seat Width  21”
Adjustable Seat to Floor Height 19.25″ – 22.50″
Adjustable Backrest Recline 90° – 1550°

Comfort

Much like the popular Von Racer Ergonomic 8280 Series, the Respawn 110 features both a padded lumbar support and padded headrest which do their jobs remarkably well and help prevent back and neck pain during those long gaming sessions.

That’s just for starters.

The double-thick, extra wide seat comes with segmented padding to provide better support, and the whole thing is upholstered in bonded leather.

This not only makes it exceptionally easy to clean, but provides a plush, lavish finish which makes this one so inviting to simply sink into and lose yourself in your favorite game.

Adjustability and Ergonomic Features

Of course, plus seats and headrest cushions are a great way to improve a chair’s comfort level, but if you’re stuck in one rigid position things can start to get pretty sore, pretty quick.

Fortunately, Respawn have thought of everything and added some pretty decent adjustable features.

First up, there’s the fully reclining 90° – 150° backrest. While it’s not uncommon for gaming chairs to recline, few offer such an extensive reclining range, nor do they have arm rests which move with the backrest.

More often than not, you’ll find gaming chairs keep the arm rests in a fixed position with the backrest reclining to only a small number of fixed positions.

With this one, you can recline all the way from fully upright to fully flat and lock into position wherever feels most comfortable to you.

Add in the fact that this is one of the best gaming chairs with a footrest that you’re going to find at this price range, dnd you’ve got a chair that can be fully extended if you decide you want to lie back and take a quick nap in between working your way through Cyberpunk 2027.

This excellent level of adjustability also tends to make this chair an excellent choice for anyone looking for a lot of versatility from their gaming chair.

While they may be designed primarily for whiling away the hours on the PlayStation 4, being able to lean back, lie flat, or sit up right means that chairs like this one can also prove their worth just as much for whiling away a lazy afternoon watching Netflix as they can for rocking up to your desk to get some work done.

Build Quality and Durability

While comfort is undoubtedly the most important quality in a gaming chair, the build quality and overall durability certainly can’t be overlooked.

After all, what good is a chair if it feels like heaven to sit in but then falls to pieces in no time at all?

Fortunately, that’s something you’ll never have to find out with the Respawn 110.

For the most part, this is a chair that’s built to last and will more than hold its own in any durability test when compared with chairs in a similar price range.

However, we can’t ignore the fact that some users have complained that the chair doesn’t tighten up as well as it perhaps should during the assembly point, leading to wobbly arm rests and other issues.

While this seems to be the exception rather than the rule when it comes to the 110, it’s worth keeping in mind.

Also worth keeping in mind is that the more you use any product or piece of office furniture, the faster it’s going to start showing signs of wear and tear.

If you’re using this chair all day, every day, then it may not serve you as well as a more expensive, premium-brand chair.

However, if you’re simply a casual gamer who enjoys being as comfortable as possible when you play, it should still serve you well for a long time to come.

Respawn 110 vs. Respawn 100

Respawn 100, via Amazon

So, how does the Respawn 110 stack up compared to the popular Respawn 100?

Footrest

The first, and most noticeable difference is that the Respawn 100 doesn’t come with a foot rest.

For some, this could be a deal breaker, while for others, the 110’s footrest may have only been a bonus feature to begin with and it might be something you could easily do without.

Recline Angle

It doesn’t recline quite as far, either. The Respawn 110 has a 150-degree backrest recline compared to the 100’s 130-degree recline.

On the plus side, it’s also much more purpose-built specifically for gaming. While the 110 is a good fit for casual gamers who may also want to use it for relaxing and watching TV, the 100’s comfortable, padded seat and racing style design make it a great choice for more serious gamers.

Respawn 110 vs. Respawn 200

Both the Respawn 110 and the Respawn 200 are evidence of the company’s passion for innovative design, though each one demonstrates this in a different way. Compared to the thick, sizable padded seat and back rest of the 110, the 200 boasts a slender, diamond-shaped backrest that gives it a striking appearance.

The big difference though, is in the way the 200 provides comfort.

Rather than providing lumbar support in the form of a padded cushion as the 110 and 100 models do, the Respawn 200 has integrated lumbar support built into the backrest, so if you find that an external cushion is too fiddly or just doesn’t work for you, this might be a better option.

It may also be a better option if you find that you simply get too hot while gaming, as this is the only chair out of the three to offer a breathable mesh design that helps keep you cool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Respawn 110 Chair come with a warranty?

The chair has an overall lifetime warranty plus extended support available seven-days a week, so you’re always covered if something goes wrong. That said, the warranty on the leather upholstery only lasts two years, so if it starts to crack and peel before then you can contact Respawn for a replacement.

How Much Does the Respawn 110 Gaming Chair Weigh?

The chair itself weighs just under 52 lbs and can support up to 275 lbs.

Are Respawn a Good Gaming Chair Brand?

On the whole, yes. Though every brand will naturally have its detractors and critics, Respawn have carved out a sizable niche in the gaming chair market by combining striking designs with superior comfort.

Can the Respawn 110 be used as an Office Chair?

Technically, yes.

In fact, given that gaming chairs are built to keep you comfortable during those marathon gaming sessions, there’s actually a pretty good argument for using a chair like the Respawn 110 if you need to put in some serious hours at your work desk.

That said, since they’re also built for entirely different things, you may find that working at a keyboard all day isn’t as comfortable in this chair as it would be if you had a good quality office chair like the Herman Miller Embody.

Verdict: Is the Respawn 110 Chair Worth It?

No products found.

So, what’s our final verdict? is the Respawn 110 gaming chair worth the money?

On the whole, we’d have to say yes. Though we started this guide by saying the brand’s mission seemed to be making one-of-a-kind chairs that stood out from the crowd, if you ask the people behind the North Carolina-based brand, they’d tell you that they’re actual reason d’etre is to deliver quality, ergonomic gaming chairs at affordable, mid-market prices.

Either way, they’ve succeeded. This isn’t the most top-of-the-range chair you’re ever going to come across and if you have the budget to spend a bit more, then it’s certainly worth doing so to get even better quality and long-lasting durability.

Still, this is certainly not a cheap chair, and despite looking like it might be all sizzle and no steak, that unique, eye-catching design is backed by a remarkable level of comfort that even some chairs much higher up the price scale can match.

All in all, what we’d say is that while hardcore gamers and those of a larger stature may want to save up for a higher-grade chair to ensure unbeatable support even after years of extensive use, casual gamers looking for a comfortable chair with a very impressive design quality will find a lot to like about the Respawn 110.
