VIVO vs FlexiSpot: Which is the Best Standing Desk Converter?

Make no mistake about it, the VIVO vs. FlexiSpot debate is one that has certainly divided opinion among fans of standing desks.

Table could not be displayed.

Indeed, while most are in universal agreement that they offer the kind of health and productivity benefits that you just don’t get with your traditional office chair and standard desk, not everyone is on the same page when it comes to deciding on the best option for converting that standard desk into a standing option.

Fighting out of the red corner, you have the best-selling VIVO desk converter; a smart, affordable invention with plenty of style.

Meanwhile, in the blue corner, weighing 50 lbs, you have the FlexiSpot, another popular option that’s built for strength and durability.

On the face of it, both do their jobs well, giving users the freedom and flexibility to switch between standing and sitting at work without too much trouble.

But that isn’t exactly helpful when you’re trying to decide which one to spend your money on.

Hopefully, the following guide will be.

Below, we pit the VIVO against the FlexiSpot to determine exactly which one deserves to hold the title of best standing desk converter on the market.

VIVO vs. FlexiSpot: Standing Desk Converter Comparison

Quality

It’s probably a given that both VIVO and FlexiSpot offer remarkable build quality, ensuring lasting durability even after hours of daily use. In fact, this one was such a close call that we were tempted to call it a draw.

In the end though, it was the FlexiSpot M2B Standing Desk Converter that won out in the quality category thanks to its combination of metal and wood materials.

The VIVO desk converter is made purely from super-tough metal which holds up well after hours of repeated use, but the fact that the FlexiSpot compliments the metal components with a solid wooden desktop surface makes it even more durable.

Add superior engineering into the bargain, and it’s a win for the FlexiSpot.

Weight Capacity

Sticking with the theme of durability, weight capacity is a major factor in determining exactly how much *stuff* you can pile on to your desktop workstation.

The VIVO Black Height Adjustable 36″ Stand up Desk Converter can bear a weight load of up to 33 lbs. That itself is impressive, meaning you’ve got ample support for a double-monitor set-up, accessories, and even a sizable laptop computer.

Likewise, the 35″ version of the FlexiSpot workstation also has a 35 lbs weight limit, though it’s also possible to buy a 41″ version with a 44 lbs weight capacity.

While the mere difference in lbs may be slight, this may be important for some users. If you’re one of them and you definitely need a desk converter that can hold as much weight as possible then yes, the FlexiSpot is again the way to go.

Height Adjustment

Again, we’re comparing like-for-like here, referring to the 36″ models of both best selling sit-stand desk solutions. The actual surface width of the FlexiSpot is closer to 35″ though.

The FlexiSpot offers height adjustment between 4.7″ – 19.88″ for a range of 15.18″. Meanwhile, the VIVO can be adjusted from  6.5” to 17” for a range of 10.5″.

Once again then, the FlexiSpot wins in this round in terms of pure numbers and if you’re a taller user, you’ll definitely find the additional 5+ inches of adjustability makes for a more comfortable day at the office.

That said, a 10.5″ range of adjustability isn’t to be scoffed at and should be more than suitable for most average-sized users.

Style

Finally, the VIVO sit-stand desk solution starts to mount a comeback by earning top marks in the style department.

On the face of it, both products look pretty similar, but the VIVO gets one over on even the best FlexiSpot desks thanks to the cool, curved design and handy features such as an in-built cable management solution to keep things neat and tidy.

If you work in the kind of environment where style matters, or if you’re simply hoping to add some much needed aesthetic appeal to your workstation, the VIVO is the one for you.

Comfort and Ergonomics

Again, this was a closely fought contest with both the VIVO and FlexiSpot scoring highly.

Both options take a spacious 35- 36″ desktop surface which again makes it a great choice if you need a standing desk with room for two monitors and combines it with a two-tier system with a separate keyboard tray, and both are designed with ergonomics in mind to improve overall comfort.

Once again though, it’s the FlexiSpot that comes out on top thanks to its 12 different adjustable points, making it the best sit/stand workstation in terms of flexibility and adjustability as there’s simply much more options for ensuring your desk is set up in a way that’s most comfortable for you.

Ease of Use

FlexiSpot wins the ease of use category with an M2B Standing Desk Converter that requires practically no effort to operate.

Again, there are some areas where both desk options are about equal. Both come almost fully assembled and require nothing more than attaching the keyboard tray, and both come with a simple latch/handle mechanism that allows you to turn your sit-down desk into a standing desk with ease.

What we really like about the FlexiSpot desk riser though, is that it boasts straight-up/straight-down movements.

With other standing desk options like this one, it’s usually the case that raising the desk from sitting to standing means moving it both up and out. This can cause problems if you’re in a tight workspace and, even if you’re not, means you’ll likely have to readjust your position to get comfortable.

With the FlexiSpot, that’s never an issue. When you’ve had enough of sitting, you just turn the handle and the desk rises straight up. Simply lock it in place when it’s at a comfortable position and you’re good to go.

In our tests, we also found that the FlexiSpot was simply easier to lift. This was surprising given that it’s a heavier model, but it was certainly a welcome surprise and means that you don’t have to worry about getting a full arm-workout just to raise your desk.

VIVO vs FlexiSpot: Our Verdict

No products found.

So, we’ve put the FlexiSpot M2B Standing Desk Converter head to head against the VIVO Black Height Adjustable 36″ Stand up Desk Converter in all of the key categories that matter – strength, durability, comfort, style, and ease of use. Now, it’s time to make our decision, which one is better?

For the most part, we have to award the victory to the FlexiSpot as it outshines the VIVO option in several key categories. It’s tougher, stronger, and boasts a larger height adjustment range than it’s rival.

With that in mind, if you’re looking to buy a sit/stand desk converter that’s truly built to last, or if you’re a taller user, you’re likely to find that FlexiSpot offers everything you need and then some.

That said, if VIVO’s 10.5″ height adjustability range is enough for you then this isn’t an option you should immediately dismiss.

Ergonomically designed and with multiple adjustment points, it’s certainly the most flexible desk converter out there, meaning you’re much more likely to find the perfect comfortable position no matter how you interact with your workspace.

Either way, if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that no matter which model you choose, you’re getting a premium quality standing desk converter that will ensure you enjoy all the health and productivity benefits that come with working at a standing desk.
