In this Sleekform Kneeling Chair review, we’ll be looking at a chair that has attracted more than its fair share of attention among health-conscious office workers as of late.
We’ve heard a lot of talk from fans of this chair about how it’s great for encouraging active sitting, a way of working at your desk that minimizes spinal pressure and alleviates that persistent, nagging back pain that can result from too many hours of sitting down.
No products found.
We’ve also heard people praise the comfort of the 4″ thick cushion and the sense of versatility; indeed, this works just as well for day-to-day office use as it does as a healthier alternative to your favorite gaming chair.
That said, we’ve also spoken to some of Sleekform’s naysayers who claim that it’s just not a good option for taller people who may struggle to comfortably wrap their legs around it. The chair’s biggest critics even argue that there are much better options out there if you want a good quality ergonomic kneeling chair at an affordable price.
So which is it?
Does the Sleekform kneeling Chair deserve all the hype? Or is it really as lackluster as its critics suggest?
Looking specifically at the Sleekform Atlanta model, here’s what we discovered.
Sleekform Kneeling Chair Review
First Impressions
If you’ve never used a kneeling chair before, they can take a little getting used to.
Chairs like this one are designed to position your legs at an angle with your feet underneath – but a distance away from – your backside. This alleviates pressure, improves circulation, and encourages good posture.
That’s generally a good thing, but after years of sitting in standard ergonomic office chairs, slipping into some kneeling chairs for the first time can feel a little alien, awkward, and perhaps even uncomfortable.
Our first impressions of this chair are that this simply wasn’t the case. It’s wide enough and tall enough to make settling into it a breeze, while the extra-thick padded cushions actually make sitting down to work pleasurable, something which those who’ve suffered from back pain after working long hours may not have experienced in years.
Assembly
The assembly is another area where the Sleekform Kneeling Chair surprises and exceeds expectations.
Given their unique set-up, it’s easy to think of them as complicated contraptions and believe that putting them together is going to be a confusing chore.
That simply isn’t the case with the Sleekform.
The chair comes with all of the screws, an Allen wrench, and detailed instructions with diagrams that are relatively straightforward to follow.
In doing so, it takes most customers about 15 – 20 minutes to assemble the chair properly, although we’ve seen some users state that they finished the assembly process in half that time.
As an added bonus, Sleekform also provide helpful videos to demonstrate the process step-by-step:

Design
Aesthetic appeal is unlikely to be anybody’s top priority when it comes to when making the switch to an ergonomic kneeling chair for their workspace, but that doesn’t mean that the chair has to be ugly.
The Sleekform certainly isn’t.
Those large padded cushions are upholstered in a quality faux-leather which makes them easy to clean and maintain, as well as adding a certain stylish look to the whole setup.
We also love that despite being one of the more generously-sized chairs of its type, the Sleekform is still compact enough that it can be put away easily to minimize space. Plus, the lightweight design and 2″ rolling castors wheels make it effortlessly portable.
Size and Specifications
In the specifications for the Sleekform Atlanta Kneeling Chair, the company insists that it’s ideally sized to sit people who measure 5’2”-6’6” in height while sitting at a standard 29″ desk.
For the most part, we’ve found that they stick to their promise and that people of most sizes can find a position they’re comfortable with. Though as we mentioned earlier, we have seen complaints that the gap between the seat and knee rest isn’t large enough for some users.
The manufacturer’s recommended weight capacity of this chair is 265 lbs, which is pretty substantial for a kneeling chair, but that does rule it out as an option if you need a big and tall chair to support 300+ lbs.
Other key specifications you may need to know include:
Height Adjustment: | 21″ to 28″ |
Seat Angle Adjustment: | 97°-127° |
Seat Width: | 24” |
Seat Depth: | 22” |
Chair Weight: | 15.4 lbs |
Comfort
We know we’ve talked about them a bit already, but we really do have to give Sleekform credit for the extra thickness of the 4” seat and knee pad, both of which are padded with a high density foam that is firm enough to offer plenty of support yet soft enough to ensure you can stay comfortable for hours at a time.
Meanwhile, the Sleekform’s unique design helps you to avoid crunching your spine into a pain-inducing C-shape the way you would with some office chairs.
Instead, it helps you to maintain the natural S-shape, taking most of the pressure off your back and thus alleviating common back-ache problems that arise from sitting.
What’s more, the kind of proper posture this one promotes also means that you’ll no longer have to deal with a sore neck or stiff shoulders either.
As we touched on earlier, this is also a great option for active sitting. Rather than remaining in one position for too long, the innovative design gives you the freedom to easily switch things around so that you’re not pressing down on any one pressure point for too long.
Ergonomics and Adjustable Features
Kneeling chairs typically don’t offer the same kind of ergonomic adjustments that you’d get with a typical ergonomic chair, but the Sleekform does at least offer some level of flexibility in terms of how you position yourself.
The seat angle can be adjusted between 91°-117° to help you find the most comfortable seating position, while the overall height can be adjusted between 21”-28”. So, if you find that you are too tall (or even too short), you should be able to make this one fit your size.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Sleekform Kneeling Chair
Will the Sleekform Kneeling Chair hurt my knees?
Not at all. Despite the name, you don’t actually put any pressure on your knees when you use a kneeling chair. Instead, most of your weight is supported by your buttocks with a little help from your shins. This means you can still enjoy a kneeling chair even if you have bad knees.
Does the Sleekform Kneeling Chair come with a warranty?
There is a standard 30-Day warranty with most Sleekform chairs. While we’d prefer a much longer warranty, 30 days is still better than nothing.
Is this a good choice for people with hip pain?
The Sleekform Kneeling Chair is certainly a suitable option for those who struggle with hip pain as the design of the chair means that most of your weight is supported by the buttocks and shins, meaning there’s no pressure on the hips.
Sleekform Kneeling Chair Model Comparison
No products found.
Throughout this review, we’ve been looking at the best-selling Sleekform Atlanta Kneeling Chair. We chose this one simply because it’s the brand’s flagship product and the one that consistently proves to be the most popular.
That said, there are some alternatives that you might want to consider.
These include:
Sleekform Amsterdam Kneeling Chair
No products found. The most striking difference between the Sleekform Amsterdam and the Atlanta is the design.
The chair comes with a more slender, curved frame that can be used to rock back and forth to encourage active sitting.
It also comes with individual pads for each leg rather than the single knee pad of the Atlanta.
A big selling point for us is that Sleekform’s trademark 4″ cushions are fitted with memory foam in the Amsterdam, a feature that offers even more comfort.
On the downside, it only supports 220 lbs and is marginally more expensive.
Sleekform Austin Kneeling Chair
Like the Amsterdam, the Sleekform Austin Kneeling Chair comes with a curved rocking frame that makes it easy to move around while still sitting and switch up positions with ease. The big difference is that the frame is made of wood, and is undoubtedly the most attractive of the three models we’ve looked at today.
However, that wooden design does have its drawbacks and does make it more difficult to assemble than the other versions.
Alternatives to the Sleekform Kneeling Chair
Like the idea of a kneeling chair but not quite sold on a Sleekform model?
We’ve listed our top favorites in our complete guide to the best kneeling chairs, but if you don’t have time for that right now, here are a few recommendations:
Varier Variable Balans Original Kneeling Chair
Though it comes with a pretty substantial price tag, the Varier Variable Balans Original Kneeling Chair is well worth the cost.
The combination of a wooden frame and upholstered seating makes it a stylish option for any office space, while the superior ergonomic design works wonders in ensuring you maintain good posture, strengthen your core, and enjoy a healthier, pain-free experience while working at your desk.
DRAGONN Ergonomic Kneeling Chair
A little further down the pricing scale, the DRAGONN Ergonomic Kneeling Chair could also pass as a replica of the Sleekform Atlanta with its black, solid steel frame and faux-leather upholstered seat and knee pads.
The seat angle on this one can be adjusted to a much greater degree than the Sleekform, which is good, however, it doesn’t come with those handy rollerball casters, which isn’t so good.
Flash Furniture Mobile Wooden Ergonomic Kneeling Chair
Last but not least, the Flash Furniture Mobile Wooden Ergonomic Kneeling Chair doesn’t offer the same kind of premium comfort and adjustable features that you’ll get with other models, but it does offer a great, budget-friendly price tag which may make it a great choice if you’re looking to try out using a kneeling chair without spending a lot of money, or if you simply want to keep a spare around the office.
Sleekform Kneeling Chair Pros and Cons

Sleekform Kneeling Chair: Our Final Verdict
So, is the Sleekform Kneeling chair really as good as its biggest fans say it is? Or do its critics actually have a fair point?
After putting the Atlanta model through its paces, we have to say we’re siding with the Sleekform fans on this one. It’s comfortable, does a great job at helping minimize pain and pressure, and provides a healthy alternative to regular office chairs, all while boasting an attractive faux-leather finish that would make it a smart addition to any modern office space.
