The Valetta is easily the most stylish Serta office chair out there. The back and arm component have a chi curvature that truly makes the chair stand out. Plus, Serta finally did it. They made a chair with a metal, chrome plated base. Two big thumbs up for that component; if you’ve seen any of our other individual Serta office chair reviews, you’ll notice that’s one of the things we gripe about. Most other Serta computer chairs come with a polymer plastic base that looks, well, meh.
That’s the exact opposite case with the Serta Valetta Dovetail Office Chair. It was executed perfectly in our opinion. The reason being is because it’s not too flashy and has the perfect balance of discreteness and modernity. Plus, most style-focused office chairs severely lack comfort levels that condone longer periods of sitting. Not the Valetta. We’ll cover the comfort and ergonomics more in the next section.
Although we love the Valetta for its overall design, there is one area we wish they could improve upon. That area just happens to be the color and options available in this model. Unfortunately, the Serta Valetta Dovetail only comes in one color: Dovetail Gray. All things considered, the color looks nice. However, people have many different tastes and it wouldn’t hurt to add more variation to the color of this model.
Last but not least, the chair is fitted with a soft microfiber material. Microfiber is nice, and we find that it holds up OK over time; be wary though, microfiber is more prone to stains and tearing when paired up against other materials like bonded leather.

Keep in mind, the Valetta is meant to be a stylish office chair that is more comfortable than other comparable chairs that fall under the same category. Coincidentally, ergonomics are not the main focus of this desk chair. That being said, for a stylish office chair, the Valetta does a decent job holding its own when it comes to ergonomics. We’d argue that it’s one of the most comfortable office chairs meant for style on the market.
If you need lumbar support and additional back support and are searching for a chair meant for long-term sitting, we suggest looking elsewhere. But, if you want a fancy-looking chair that has a lot of comfort features that will support sitting a few hours here and there, the Valetta is your answer. A few things to note: the chair has a mid to low-back height, so you won’t get the upper support with this one. Plus, the armrests may not fit everyone’s body size – they are fixed and built into the seat.
Now to the good stuff: the chair height and tilt is adjustable, so you can customize it to your preferred settings. Another great feature that Serta added into the Valetta Dovetail Home Office Chair is the lower back airflow opening. You’ll notice in the photos there is a gap in the lower back, and that was designed with intent. That little feature will help keep your back cool and reduce overheating while sitting.

As we often state in our individual reviews, this section is too frequently overlooked. All it takes to avoid a devastating scenario is a measuring tape and 5 minutes. Trust us, the last thing you want is to order your new chair, wait for it in extreme anticipation, and have it arrive only to find out it doesn’t fit in your work space. The best part about buying brand name is that you can (most of the time) trust the product. Serta is, and has been a trusted brand name for over 70 years. Right off the bat, buying from an established company guarantees a higher level of quality and value. Because Serta has been around for a while, they know what they’re doing and have a staffed customer service team. Plus, the chair is designed by a team of experts and is crafted with quality. The one downside of the lifetime value is the material – although microfiber is soft and nice, it isn’t quite as long-lasting as other materials like PU or bonded leather.
